Calcium and magnesium deficient can lead to death.

We live in a rapidly aging society and osteoporosis patients are on the rise. Salty foods, coffee, and carbonated drinks are accelerating the depletion of calcium in the body due to poor eating and lifestyle habits. Osteoporosis is a disease in which bone strength is weakened along with a decrease in overall bone mass, and thus bone is easily broken by a small impact. It is well known that calcium is involved in human bone health, but it also helps blood health. Low calcium ions in the blood can cause hypocalcemia, which causes abnormalities in the neurotransmitter system. Imbalances in calcium ion concentrations in the blood can cause neurotransmitter dysfunction, muscle dysfunction, heart failure, anxiety, panic disorder, and even death.

Magnesium, like calcium, is called an antistress mineral and is a necessary nutrient to calm nervous system excitement. Magnesium helps to produce energy, metabolism and nerve conduction. It also helps maintain bone and tooth formation. According to the US National Health and Nutrition Survey, calcium intake was higher than the standard and magnesium intake was below the recommended intake. Ingestion of calcium alone in a magnesium-deficient state can cause excess calcium in the body and cause kidney damage. Magnesium is easily taken out of the body through the kidneys by ingesting carbonated drinks, caffeine, and alcohol. Stress causes a deficiency by increasing the required amount of magnesium.
